Ahmedabad: An IndiGo flight operating from Madinah, Saudi Arabia, to Hyderabad was diverted to Ahmedabad on Thursday following a bomb threat, a police official said.

The flight safely landed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport around 12:30 pm, and all passengers and crew were deboarded to allow a thorough search of the aircraft, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Atul Bansal.

Bansal explained, "When the flight was en route to Hyderabad from Madinah, IndiGo received an email claiming that a bomb had been planted on the aircraft. Since Ahmedabad was the closest airport, the pilot decided to land here as a precautionary measure."

After being alerted, local police, the Central Industrial Security Force, and the National Disaster Response Force rushed to the site. The official added that nothing suspicious was found during the initial search.
