Mysuru: BJP worker hurled a mobile phone at Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Karnataka while he was attending a road show in a specially designed vehicle as part of poll campaigning. Police informed that the woman worker threw her phone in excitement and not out of ill intentions, PTI reported.
The phone, launched by the woman, landed on the bonnet of the vehicle, which the PM noticed, and he indicated the same to his security team.
"The Prime Minister was under the protection of the SPG. The lady (whose phone fell into the PM's vehicle) was a BJP worker. The SPG people returned it to her later," Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Alok Kumar told PTI.
"In the excitement (of the event), it was thrown, and she had no (ill) intention, but we are trying to trace the lady because the phone was handed over to her by the SPG sleuths," he added.
When the incident happened, Modi was flanked by Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha and former ministers K S Eshwarappa and S A Ramadas.
On the "poisonous snake" reference by Congress chief Mallikarjuna Kharge, Modi responded at a public meeting in Karnataka's Kolar. He said that the people of Karnataka would give a "befitting answer" for that in the upcoming polls.
They are comparing me with a snake and seeking votes from people. For me, the people of the country are a form of Lord Shiva. I accept being the snake on the neck of the god-like public. The people of Karnataka will give them a befitting answer on May 10," said PM Modi.
