BJP vows to topple terror-supporting Mamata govt in Bengal: Giriraj Singh

New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Monday declared that the BJP's campaign in West Bengal represents a battle between "terrorism and democracy," vowing to overthrow Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress government.

Speaking amid escalating political tensions ahead of state elections, Singh accused the TMC regime of supporting terrorists, favoring Muslims, and encouraging Bangladeshi infiltration. "This time, Mamata Banerjee’s government, which is accused of supporting terrorists, being pro-Muslim, and encouraging Bangladeshi infiltrators, must be overthrown in West Bengal," he asserted, positioning the BJP as the sole force capable of restoring law, order, and national security.

BJP MLA Pawan Singh echoed these sentiments, citing public discontent over corruption scandals plaguing the ruling party. "The people are against the ruling party. I feel that if the public were happy, they would express it openly. But the fact that the public is silent shows they are opposed," he observed, expressing confidence in an electoral shift as voters prepare for the polls by April.

The minister's remarks coincide with an Enforcement Directorate (ED) Supreme Court petition alleging West Bengal officials obstructed searches linked to a coal smuggling probe involving TMC poll strategist I-PAC. Mamata Banerjee has filed police complaints against the raids, while the state government filed a caveat to ensure a hearing.
