BJP announces first list of 71 candidates for Bihar election
text_fieldsThe Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its first list of 71 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly election.
Both Deputy Chief Ministers, Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, have been included in the list. Chaudhary will contest from the Tarapur constituency, while Sinha will fight from Lakhisarai.
Former Union Minister Ramkripal Yadav, who was once a close aide of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) founder Lalu Prasad Yadav, has been fielded from Danapur.
In a notable omission, Assembly Speaker Nand Kishor Yadav’s name does not appear in the list. Instead, the BJP has chosen Ratnesh Kushwaha to contest from the Patna Sahib seat, which Nand Kishor Yadav has represented since 2010.
Senior party leader and former deputy chief minister Tarkishore Prasad will contest from Katihar. Health Minister Mangal Pandey has been fielded from Siwan, and Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin from Bankipur.
