Bihar official investigated over disproportionate assets worth 8 crore
text_fieldsA low-level block officer in the Bihar government has been booked by the Vigilance Investigation Bureau under alleged charges of corruption due to his owning disproportionate assets worth over 8 crore. A raid was conducted on the officer's residences in Patna and Motihari following which lakhs worth of assets were siezed, a Vigilance official was quoted as saying by NDTV.
₹1.75 crore in cash, 2.2 kgs of gold and silver ornaments valued at ₹ 48 lakh, 42 passbooks of nationalised banks and post office were seized during the raid, along with at least 14 LIC policies, 17 debit and credit cards and 25 land purchase agreement papers, the vigilance official said.
In order to conduct the raid, a search warrant was obtained from the Vigilance special judge in Patna. Unofficial reports suggest that the raid may have netted the biggest haul in disproportionate assets since The vigilance department had seized properties worth ₹ 2.36 crore from the house of an executive engineer of the road construction department in 2019.
