New Delhi: BJP MP in Karnataka Anantkumar Hegde warned on Saturday that the destruction of the Bhatkal Mosque in the state is guaranteed the same as Babri Masjid, which was demolished by 'kar sevaks' in 1992, India Today reports.

Hegde said that destroying the Karnataka mosque was not his decision by the Hindu society.

"The destruction of Bhatkal Mosque is guaranteed like Babri Masjid. This is not the decision of Anantkumar Hegde, but the decision of Hindu society," India Today quoted the MP.

Later, he alleged that the Congress Party had divided Hindu society for centuries. He labelled the party as "anti-Hindu" and "against Sanatana Dharma."

Targeting Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Hegde said that the former is his real opponent rather than the Congress party itself. He criticised those seeking minority votes and warned that they were adversaries to his cause.

Regarding Siddaramaiah not attending Ram Temple's inauguration, Hegde reminded me of how the CM said first that he did not receive an invitation. He reminded that the CM later said he wouldn't attend the function and asserted that whether the CM attends or not, the consecration will take place.

Siddaramaiah hit back at the problematic statements by the BJP MP, saying that it is the way they express themselves that lacks respect. The use of offensive language would not affect him, but it reflects Hegde's character.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara reacted by saying that Anantkumar Hegde must speak responsibly. He said that the BJP MP remained silent for three years and surfaced ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, implying the MP had motives. They don't object to Hegde expressing his opinions, but when the statements are "abusive, defamatory, provocative, or intimidating", the police will take note, and they will act legally, India Today reports.
