Bangalore doctor accused of attempting to poison her 8 year old daughter

Tirupur: Dr. Shailaja from Banagalore was accused of attempting to murder her 8 year old daughter by feeding her poison. This occurred in Sevur on Friday, December 26.

The accused, Dr. Shailaja is a doctor running a clinic in Tamil Nadu. Due to unnamed reasons, her clinic shut down months prior and she was living off of her father's pension. She claims to be suffering from depression due to unemployment. She claims that she decided to kill her daughter as she couldn't afford to feed her.

On Friday, on her way to Tirupur, Shailaja stopped at Sevur and allegedly poisoned her daughter. According to the police, witnesses saw her dumping her daughter's unconscious body along Puliyampatti Road and fleeing the scene.

The witnesses went to assist the child and called for an ambulance, which took her to Avinashi Government Hospital. However, due to the severity of her condition, she was shifted to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital.

The police have taken Dr. Shailaja into custody and shifted her to Avinashi Government Hospital as her mental health seemed to be unstable.
