New Delhi: Dalit leader Chandrashekhar Azad on Friday warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he and his supporters will gherao the residence of the Prime Minister if the culprits of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident are not arrested within seven days.

Attending a press conference in New Delhi, Azad accused that while the culprits are roaming free, PM Modi who tweets on every issue is yet to react to the killing of the farmers.

"PM Modi was celebrating 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' in Lucknow when the families of farmers were in mourning," he alleged.

Saying that those who are mum on the killing of farmers cannot be loyal to the country, Azad demanded the prime minister to go to Lakhimpur Kheri and meet family members of the slain farmers.

The Dalit leader compared the October 3 incident to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and said it will have huge repercussions in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections next year.

Azad also alleged that there is no law and order in Uttar Pradesh and demanded that the CM Yogi Aditya Nath tender his resignation.

Azad also announced that his party Azad Samaj Party (ASP) will field candidates on all 272 seats in the municipal elections in Delhi. He said ASP will fight the elections under the leadership of Naren Bhiku Ram Jain, who was previously with the AAP.

He also accused that the people are robbed of their rights and reeled under corruption wherever the BJP is in power. Azad claimed that his party will also expose the Delhi chief minister's politics of lies.

"You all have seen the CM's discriminatory attitude on the deaths of sanitation workers due to COVID-19", he alleged.

Naren Bhiku Ram Jain said people belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward castes feel neglected despite 258 MPs representing them in Parliament.

"The Bahujan Samaj has awakened now. No party can come to power in MCD without our support, Jain added.

Azad had launched his party on the birth anniversary of Bahujan Samaj Party founder Kanshi Ram in March last year.
