Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said he is investigating the incident of Indigo denying boarding to a specially-abled child. He had earlier condemned the incident.

A few days ago, a detailed account of the incident was shared on Twitter by a passenger present at the airport. It claimed that the Indigo staff did not show compassion to the family who did not raise their voice, not even once, during the 45 minutes.

Scindia tweeted saying there is zero tolerance towards such behaviour and no human should have to go through such an experience.

He added that appropriate action will be taken after the investigation.

A statement from Indigo CEO Ronojoy Dutta said the decision to not allow the specially-abled teenager on board was a difficult one. He said the teenager was visibly in panic at the board area. "Throughout the check-in and boarding process, our intent of course was to carry the family".

He added that the airport staff was forced to make a decision as to whether this commotion would carry forward aboard the aircraft in line with the safety guidelines.

The official statement said that Indigo made the "best possible decision under difficult circumstances''. The airline has offered the family an electric wheelchair as a token of appreciation.

The aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked for a report. The low-cost airline known for being budget-friendly has been facing massive backlash over the incident.
