Authority seals off Muzaffarnagar school where a Muslim boy was beaten

Muzaffarnagar: The private school where a teacher encouraged fellow students to beat a Muslim boy has been sealed after authorities found the school does not meet the required criteria.
The Basic Education Officer, Shubham Shukla, stated that an inquiry revealed that the school did not meet department criteria and has issued a notice for its closure. The school, an under-construction building, lacked proper facilities and sections for classes 1 to 5.
Notices have also been sent to de-recognize the school from the UP Education Board. Efforts are being made to transfer the approximately 50 students to nearby government schools or alternative options within the district. The boy's family has already withdrawn him from the school and is actively seeking a new educational institution.
The teacher, Tripta Tyagi (60), allegedly made derogatory comments about the boy's faith and incited other students to physically harm him.
The incident, which occurred earlier in the week at Neha Public School owned by Tyagi, came to light when a video of the assault went viral. In the video, Tyagi can be heard instructing classmates to beat the boy for a mistake in multiplication tables while using pejorative language targeting "Mohammedan children." The incident ignited public outcry, leading to demands for action against the teacher and the school.
Authorities have taken swift action in response. Tyagi has been booked under IPC sections 323 (causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), although she remains free as these sections are bailable.
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has intervened in the matter. The Muzaffarnagar Senior Superintendent of Police has been directed to initiate an inquiry and file an FIR against the teacher. The district magistrate has been instructed to take action under Section 17 of the RTE Act, 2009, which pertains to child subjects being subjected to physical punishment or mental harassment.
The villagers in Khubbapur highlighted the lack of affordable alternatives to Neha Public School, which charged lower fees compared to other institutions. As investigations continue and actions are taken against those responsible, the community awaits justice for the young victim and hopes for reforms to prevent such incidents in the future.
