Sydney: Approximately 170 people of Indian origin boarded a chartered flight from Melbourne to Sydney to participate in an event hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The flight, named "Modi Airways" by the Prime Minister's supporters, was operated by Qantas and arrived in Sydney this morning.

The members of the Indian Australian Diaspora Foundation (IADF) wore turbans adorned with the colours of the Indian flag and waved national flags as they joyfully made their way to the flight.

The event in Sydney, which is being organized by IADF, aims to celebrate Australia's vibrant and diverse Indian community, which is considered an integral part of the country's multicultural fabric, as stated by the Australian government. Dr Amit Sarwal, the co-founder of IADF, mentioned that many people were eagerly waiting outside the event venue to cheer for Prime Minister Modi.

Tomorrow, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to meet with his Australian counterpart, Anthony Albanese, in Sydney. He arrived in Australia from Papua New Guinea, where he engaged in discussions with Prime Minister James Marape to assess their bilateral relations. The two leaders co-hosted the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) summit earlier this week, emphasizing the importance of regional collaboration.

Prime Minister Modi embarked on his three-nation tour on Friday, commencing with Japan, where he attended three sessions at the G7 summit after being invited by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

Additionally, he joined US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the 3rd in-person Quad Summit in Hiroshima.

The Quad meeting was originally planned to take place in Australia but was relocated to Hiroshima due to President Biden's postponed trip caused by ongoing negotiations regarding raising the US debt limit.
