Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath went on with his recent series of problematic remarks, issuing the latest of them on Friday. He claimed that the descendants of Aurangzeb, who was among the destroyers of temples in India, are currently plying rickshaws in Kolkata. He claimed that the clan of those responsible for demolishing and desecrating Hindu temples would become extinct, The Deccan Herald reported.

He said that when he asked people about the condition of those who had destroyed temples, he was told that the descendants of the Mughal emperor ply rickshaws near Kolkata.

“Jab main logon se poochta hun ki mandir todne wale logon ke parivaron ki aaj kya sthiti hai to log batate hain ki Aurangzeb ke parivar ke log aaj Kolkata ke paas rickshaw chalate hain,’’ Deccan Herald quoted him as speaking at a function in Ayodhya.

The controversial CM of BJP ruling Uttar Pradesh said that the descendants of the temple destroyers would not have faced such hardships had they not destroyed and desecrated temples.

He claimed that the emperor’s clan would become extinct and only Sanatan Dharma would establish peace in the world.

Further, Adityanath said that there were temples destroyed “everywhere”, like Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya, Shree Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura, Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi and Harihar Temple in Sambhal.

He claimed that when Sanatan Dharma was the only religion in the world that gave shelter to every faith in times of difficulty, Hindus were targeted everywhere. He asked what had happened in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

He said Sanatana Dharma must be respected and protected if humanity needs to be safeguarded.

On Monday, Adityanath claimed that India will be run only by the traditions of Lord Ram and not by those of Babur or Aurangazeb. He claimed that when Ram’s, Krishna’s and Buddha’s traditions are to remain in India, the legacies of Babur and Aurangzeb are going to fade.

Reacting to widespread outrage over an Allahabad High Court judge’s statement that the country should run as per the wishes of the majority, Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath claimed on Sunday that "whoever speaks the truth" is threatened. Over the Opposition’s impeachment motion against Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, the BJP CM repeated that those who speak the truth are threatened this way.
