New Delhi: With the vote counting nearing closure, it is nearly confirmed that Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress registered a landslide victory in Kaliganj in West Bengal.

It is reported that TMC candidate Alifa Ahamed bagged 59,329 votes, outwitting BJP candidate Ashis Ghosh leaving in the second position with 29,580.

Congress candidate Kabil Uddin Shaikh, entered the fray backed by the CPI(M), managed to pull off only the third position with 19,516 votes, election officials reportedly said.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her gratitude to the people of Kaliganj for electing TMC candidate.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has won Punjab’s Ludhiana West by-election with the party candidate Sanjeev Arora gaining the highest number of votes among all contenders.

Arora has secured the seat with a lead of nearly 10,637 votes after remaining distinctly ahead at the end of the 13 th round of counting.

As the results of by-elections in five seats in four states, held on June 19, have come out on Monday with BJP securing one seat in Gujarat while losing one sitting seat to the AAP.

In the hotly fought by election in Gujarat, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gopal Italia secured a victory in the Visavadar Assembly by-election, defeating Bharatiya Janata Party’s Kirit Patel by a margin of over 17,000 votes.
