Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said an atmosphere of violence and mistrust is prevailing in India and it may ruin the country.

He stressed that the politics of tension is not for the nation. Comparing India to a family suffering from tension, he said such a nation cannot move forward and will eventually get ruined. "The same thing applies to a village, state, and country."

He was speaking at the unveiling of a statue of former MLA Sanwarmal Mor and the inauguration of a girls' college at Kothiyari in Sikar.

Criticising those who normalise the current atmosphere, he said some people may be happy that bulldozers are running. "That bulldozer can come to your place at any time". He added that one cannot be called guilty without the conviction of law.

Gehlot also called the union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat's stand over the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP). He asked how a minister can say if the government had changed in Rajasthan, water would have come through.

"Can a Union minister speak such a language? What can be more shameful than this?" asked the Rajasthan CM. He has been demanding that the ERCP get the status of a national project as it is meant to provide water to 13 districts in eastern Rajasthan.

He also accused Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat of being party to the July 2020 rebellion of Sachin Pilot and 18 MLAs. Speaking about the recently leaked audio tapes, Gehlot said it is proof that Shekhawat played a major role in trying to topple the government of Rajasthan.
