Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot criticised the investigative agency on Friday, stating, "The Enforcement Directorate was roaming around more than strays", following the ED's raid on the homes of a few Congress leaders in Rajasthan the previous day.

Gehlot stated, "More than dogs, it's the Enforcement Directorate that is on the prowl in the country," during a press conference in Jaipur.

The Chief Minister went on to say that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was "following his 'guarantee model'."

"I requested time from the heads of the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI, but now these have become a political weapon. Modi Ji doesn't seem to realise that his countdown has begun. He is now following our 'guarantee model'," Gehlot said, India Today reported.

The son of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday in connection with a foreign exchange violation case, while the state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra's offices in Jaipur and Sikar were raided as part of a money laundering investigation into the alleged exam paper leak case.

In addition to searching the home of Dotasra, a 59-year-old former minister of education, the agency also searched the homes of Omprakash Hudla, a party candidate running for the Mahua seat in Dausa, and a few other people.

The raids were undertaken under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Chief Minister Gehlot criticised the move even on Thursday, claiming that terror had been let loose in the nation. He claimed the BJP was using these raids to harm him because they were unable to overthrow his government.

On November 25, elections will be conducted for the 200 seats in the Rajasthan Assembly.

On December 3, the results will be announced.
