Accusing the Uttar Pradesh government of insulting the work done by Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA), Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra promised an honorarium of Rs 10,000 per month for ASHA and Anganwadi workers if her party is voted to power in the upcoming UP assembly polls.

Gandhi also shared a video of an alleged assault by the police on ASHA workers in Shahjahanpur on Twitter. The workers wanted to meet CM Yogi Adityanath with their demands. She said, "Every assault on the ASHA sisters by the UP government is an insult to the work done by them. My ASHA sisters have given their services diligently in coronavirus times and on other occasions. Honorarium is their right. It is the duty of the government to listen to them."

"ASHA sisters deserve respect and I am with them in this fight," the Congress General Secretary added. The Congress is committed to the right of ASHA sisters to honorarium and their respect. On forming the government, ASHA and Anganwadi workers would be given an honorarium of Rs 10,000 per month, Gandhi said.

She also slammed the government for the alleged poor state of goshalas or cow sheds in the state and urged it to take corrective measures in another tweet.
