Arvind Kejriwal again seeks Congress support to stop BJP’s Delhi Bill: report

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday sought the support of the Congress to stop Centre’s law that will restore Lieutenant Governor's control over Delhi’s governing of bureaucrats in transfer and postings.
Despite two previous requests by Kejriwal, the Congress leadership remains silent or rather sitting on the face.
However, Opposition seemingly extends generous support to AAP in its efforts to take on the BJP administration, which is highly unlikely without the support of Congress.
The Congress has yet to take a definite stand on the Centre's executive order last month, nullifying a ‘Supreme Court order that upheld the elected government's control over bureaucrats,’ according to NDTV.
However, over the last fortnight, Kejriwal has been meeting national party leaders and regional chieftains to marshal enough troops to withstand the BJP’s moves.
The latest of his outreach came on Thursday when he huddled with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, who reportedly threw his weight behind AAP.
Kejriwal received the support of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his deputy and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Tejashwi Yadav and the Left parties.
Kejriwal already met with Uddhav Thackeray and NCP leader Sharad Pawar but still waits for an appointment with the Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress leadership has not expressed any interest in meeting AAP leader whom the grand old party considers a rival, not a friend.
At the press briefing on Thursday, Kejriwal said ‘The Congress should support this. Nitty gritty of a joint united opposition for 2024 polls can be worked out in the meeting scheduled’, NDTV reported.
Despite the pressure is mounting on it, the Congress appears to be having no interest in what is going on.
The indifference of the Congress leadership has to do with AAP filling in for the grand old party in Delhi, Punjab and Goa, also most recently in Gujarat.
More important, the Congress accused the AAP of employing soft Hindutva to take on the BJP.
