Appearance of Ram Temple on campus: Hyderabad varsity sets up panel to probe
text_fieldsHyderabad: The conversion of a structure into a Ram temple inside the campus of University of Hyderabad (UoH) will be probed by a committee after some students' unions have protested it.
The University-formed committee will probe whether there is involvement of students or any students groups in the painting, installation of saffron flags and deities on the stone structure on the day of Rama Navami.
The agitated students' unions over the transformation of the structure into a temple inside the campus raised their concern with the authority. The students' unions have alleged that the structure was ornamented in the religious line was the handiwork of students associated with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
But UoH registrar Devesh Nigam denied the allegation. Nigam said that there already had a structure with photos of some Hindu deities, and one or two students painted it in saffron colour and installed saffron flags without authority's permission.
He said that the committee will enquire who did it and recommend actions to be taken against the students.
The students had made a swastika symbol on the structure and had written 'Om'. Nigam said the university has identified these students and found out that they were not associated with any group.
