Another Pandit loses life in targeted terrorist killing in Kashmir
text_fieldsJammu and Kashmir: Another Kashmiri Pandit lost his life after being shot by terrorists in a case of alleged targeted killing in the Shopian district.
Police said that Puran Krishan Bhat, son of Tarak Nath Bhat, of Choudhary Gund village in Shopian was shifted to hospital after suffering gunshots where he was declared dead on arrival today.
The latest killing happened nearly two months after the killing of another Pandit, Sunil Kumar Bhat of Chotigam village of the same district, by the terrorists. His brother was also injured.
"The area has been surrounded for searches. Senior police and paramilitary officers have reached the spot," police said.
The August attack was claimed by 'Kashmir Freedom Fighters', an offshoot of Al Badr, in a statement that said that the Pandit brothers had been targeted for encouraging people to take part in the 'Tiranga rallies' in the run-up to Independence Day celebrations.
