In Vijayawada, thousands of residents are suffering from one of the worst floods in recent memory. On Tuesday, they were observed leaving their homes in search of safety when the floodwaters slightly subsided, enabling them to walk through the flooded streets.

Up to 4,15,171 persons in Andhra Pradesh were impacted by the rain and flood. 43,417 persons have been relocated by the Andhra Pradesh government to 163 relief camps spread throughout the state. There are 197 medical camps run by the government, The Hindu reported.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said, “Special attention needs to be given to Vijayawada. We have deployed 262 Panchayati Raj teams for relief and rehabilitation efforts.”

Adilabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, and Mahabubabad are the four districts of Telangana that are under a heavy rain alert from the Indian Meteorological Department for Wednesday, September 4, 2024. In isolated areas of these districts, thunderstorms with lightning and high surface winds are also predicted.

After several sites, including Miyapur and Alwal, experienced flooding as a result of the heavy rain, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) personnel started removing areas where water was standing still.
