Andhra man starts huge fire after carelessly tossing a lit matchstick on the road
text_fieldsHyderabad: A man in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur started a huge fire after tossing a lit matchstick onto the road where there was petrol spilled from a leaky container, NDTV reported.
The fire that damaged several vehicles and shops broke out at Kalyanadurgam town in Anantapur district around 11.30 am Wednesday morning.
Another man had brought five litres of petrol from a petrol station in a container which was leaking and the petrol spilled onto the road where vehicles were parked near the shops.
Footage from the CCTV showed two men chatting near a shop and before them on the road was a pool of petrol.
One of the men lit a beedi and tossed the burning matchstick into the petrol having no idea what it was.
The moment the match landed into the petrol, there was a ball of fire.
As the flames began to engulf, the smoker and the other person ran for safety while vehicles parked on the road were catching fire.
It is reported that several shops and vehicles were damaged in the fire.
Another similar incident was reported in May when a man slept with a burning cigar in his hand at his Kolkata home.
The 28-year-old man, identified as Saptarshi Mitra, died from suffocation as the fire started engulfing him before he could escape.
