Andheri man enters airport with fake air ticket to search for lost phone, arrested
text_fieldsMumbai: A 37-year-old man was arrested from Marol, Andheri for entering the airport premises with a fake flight ticket a couple of days ago, officials said.
He told the police that he was looking for the smartphone he had lost at the airport a week ago, according to The Indian Express.
The man identified as Noor Alam Mohammed Kayyum Shaikh is now facing non-bailable charges that can land him up to seven years in prison if convicted.
Shaikh entered the departure premises of the airport with an air ticket for a UK950 flight from Mumbai to Delhi.
The staff of Vistara Airlines on May 14 caught a ‘passenger’ at the departure premises with a ticket that was not issued by the airline to any passenger.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) subjected him to interrogation before handing him over to Sahar police and lodged a complaint.
The man told the police that he was looking for the mobile phone he had lost a week ago at the airport traveling from Mumbai to Delhi via UK 950 flight.
He said he could not lodge a complaint at the time because of an ‘overload of work’.
‘In order to check the airport premises of the departure area by seeing the CCTV camera feeds to see where exactly he lost the mobile phone, he decided to gain entry at the airport using a duplicate air ticket,’ a police officer was quoted as saying.
The CISF personnel reported that the man used his laptop to change the date of previous journey’s ticket to gain entry to the airport.
However, the staff of Vistara Airlines caught him for his suspicious movements at the airport before handing him over to the CISF.
