Ambanis came to rescue when Gautam Singhania assaulted: Nawaz Modi
text_fieldsMumbai: Raymond Chairman Gautam Singhania's estranged wife Nawaz Modi told an interview that Singhania physically 'assaulted' her.
Her name cropped up in media after she reportedly demanded 75 percent of his fortune as a divorce settlement.
The professional fitness trainer claimed that Nita Ambani and Anant Ambani came to her rescue ensuring police action when Singhania allegedly assaulted her and their minor daughter, Niharika on September 10.
The incident took place the day after his birthday party at their residence in Mumbai.
They took refuges in a room and tried to get the help of police.
‘I called my friend Ananya Goenka. She figured that the police were not going to come [to help us]. Gautam would have managed things around. Ananya said 'Me and Anant will go to the police station and come there’,’ Nawaz Modi reportedly said.
Nawaz Modi narrated events that were unfolding as the mother and daughter tried to save themselves.
Her daughter Niharika reached out over phone to her friend, Vishwaroop, the first cousin of Singhania.
‘Trishakar’s son Vishwaroop was also there [for the party]. He is a good friend of my daughters. They are the same age. So, she called him up, ‘Vishu come back, right now'. He knew the atmosphere in the house,’ Nawaz Modi reportedly said.
Next thing happened was Mukesh Ambani’s wife Nita was on the line with Nawaz Modi alongside his son Anant Ambani.
‘Before I knew it, Nita Ambani was on the line with me, Anant Ambani was on the line with me. The whole family had jumped in, she was quoted as saying.
While Gautam Singhania tried to stop police coming, Ambanis made sure they were there for their rescue, she said.
However, Gauatam Singhania declined to comment on Nawaz Modi’s allegations against him.
When Gautam Singhania announced separation from Nawaz Modi on November 14, she demanded 75 per cent of his estimated $1.4 billion net worth.
