Following the Supreme Court's orders, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia surrendered to a trial court in Mohali following charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The trial court argued over Majithia's bail request once he applied for regular bail.

However, the court did permit the Special Investigation Team to question Majithia for around one hour inside the courthouse.

On February 20, he was ordered to surrender by a three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice N.V. Ramana, Justices A.S. Bopanna and Hima Kohli. His interim bail had expired that night.

SAD chief Sukhbir Badal's brother-in-law Majithia was running from Amritsar (East) in the February 20 assembly elections.

The state police Crime Branch filed a 49-page FIR at the Mohali police station alleging violation of sections 25, 27A, and 29 of the NDPS Act.
