Ajit Doval is not only a national but an international treasure: US Envoy
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Giving signs of PM Modi’s upcoming US visit becoming a grand event, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti on Tuesday stressed on the strong foundation between India and US relations.
Eric Garcetti also took time off to praise India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval calling him not only a national but an international treasure, mentioning Doval’s humble background of being a village boy from Uttarakhand.
‘India's NSA has not only become a national treasure but an international treasure,’ Eric Garcetti was quoted as saying.
Addressing the United States-India initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET) in Delhi, Garcetti said that Indians love Americans and Americans love Indians, adding that foundation between both nations is so strong.
Garcetti was full praise for India’s digital payment and financial technology saying that a ‘tea wala’ in a village can ensure direct payment from the government on her phone, ‘a 100 per cent of each one of those rupees’.
Relating an incident, he said one of the multi-faith leaders with whom he was having a dinner in India said alongside 4G, 5G and 6G India has a more something more powerful-‘Guruji’, according to NDTV.
Another top US official to visit on Tuesday is US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan who met Ajit Doval to discuss regional and global issues that interest both nations.
His visit to Delhi gathers important as it happens ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming state visit to the US.
The official press release of the Ministry of External Affairs said that NSA Sullivan will meet with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin previously huddled with Ajit Doval discussing Indo-Pacific, and cooperation in maritime, military and aerospace.
