AIMIM chief condemns honour killing in Hyderabad, Says it is the worst crime as per Islam
text_fieldsThe All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi said murder is the worst crime as per Islam. He was condemning the death of a Hindu man in Hyderabad. He stated that AIMIM does not stand with murderers.
However, Owaisi expressed concern about the incident being given communal colour. He pointed out that the police already arrested the accused immediately, reported ANI. He was speaking at the Eid Milap programme at Darussalam, the headquarters of AIMIM in the city on Friday.
The Lok Sabha member noted that the Muslim woman willingly decided to get married. Hence, her brother does not have any right to kill her Hindu husband. "There was no rationale for the two men to kill her husband. It's a criminal act as per the constitution and the worst crime as per Islam".
Owaisi reiterated that his party will not stand by murderers and stated "you have no right to go and kill somebody. Have fear of Allah". He added that the Holy Quran says if one innocent human being is killed, it amounts to killing the entire humanity.
He also questioned sectors of the media alleging him of supporting the culprits. The MP asked: "Did I take out procession in support of killers, did I garland them or did I announce that I will arrange a lawyer for them?"
Ashrin Sulthana's husband Billipuram Nagaraju was attacked when the duo was travelling on a motorcycle. The crime was committed allegedly for defying Ashrin's family's objections to the marriage. Nagaraju was first hit with an iron rod and then stabbed to death, reported ANI.
The city police arrested two of the woman's relatives - Syed Mobin Ahmed, brother of Ashrin Sulthana and Mohammed Masood Ahmed - for murder. According to the police, the plan to murder Ashrin's husband was 'meticulously hatched'. The victim was followed for a while before he was attacked.
A case has been registered under IPC Section 302, SC/ST Act.
The police said the accused were produced before the Hon'ble Court for judicial custody. "We'll apply at fast track court so that the trial is concluded soon and the accused are punished". DCP of LB Nagar said Nagaraju's family will be given monetary benefits and a job.
Owaisi added that whenever a religious procession is happening, there should be high-resolution CCTV cameras on mosques and the footage should be streamed live on Facebook so that the world sees who is throwing stones. He was speaking about the communal violence that took place in Delhi's Jahangirpuri and Madhya Pradesh's Khargone.
