New Delhi: After booking speakers including Yati Narsinghanand for their inflammatory speeches at 'mahapanchayat' held in Delhi on Sunday, now police are after those spreading rumours on social media.

Usha Rangrani, deputy commissioner of police, says that legal action is being taken against people putting about rumours.

Taking a suo moto cognizance based on legal opinion, police have registered FIR against some Twitter handlers for posting false messages, an officer reportedly said.

On Sunday, Delhi Police registered an FIR against Yati Narsinghanand and other speakers at the "Hindu Mahapanchayat" held in the city.

Yati Narsinghanand allegedly told a gathering of 500 at the 'Hindu mahapanchayat' that if a Muslim was made prime minister 50 per cent of Hindus would change their faith in the next 20 years.

He allegedly exhorted that Hindus would have to have more children and be taught to fight. He asked people to watch the movie 'The Kashmir Files' in order not to have a fight between Hindus and Muslims.

The event was organised by Preet Singh, founder of the Save India Foundation. Delhi Police said the organisers did not get permission for the event. Taking to Twitter, Preet Singh said the event was planned back in January this year.
