Adani Defence, DRDO launch India's next-gen counter-drone system
text_fieldsBengaluru: Adani Defence & Aerospace, in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), unveiled India’s Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System at Aero India in Bengaluru on Tuesday. The platform was launched by Dr. B K Das, Director General (Electronics & Communication System) of DRDO, in the presence of defence experts and industry partners.
According to the company, this cutting-edge system represents a significant advancement in India's defence preparedness, addressing the growing threat posed by drones in modern warfare. With drones increasingly being used for reconnaissance and offensive operations, the need for a sophisticated counter-drone mechanism has become critical.
"The Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System ensures long-range protection, agility, and precision, making it a formidable asset for modern defence forces. It offers seamless protection through advanced sensor capabilities, including automatic detection, classification, and neutralisation of drones," the company stated.
Integrated into a single 4x4 vehicle, the system provides a highly mobile, reliable, and self-sufficient counter-drone solution. It features a high-energy laser system for precise drone neutralisation, a 7.62 mm gun for aerial threat engagement, and an array of advanced radar, SIGINT, electro-optical sensors, and jammers. These components enable real-time target acquisition, tracking, and neutralisation within a range of 10 km.
The system’s integration of multiple counter-drone technologies into a single platform ensures rapid response and operational flexibility, making it a crucial asset for safeguarding India's defence infrastructure.
Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace, highlighted the significance of the launch, stating, "This unveiling is a testament to the success of India's defence innovation ecosystem, driven by DRDO's world-class R&D and the Transfer of Technology (ToT) framework. Adani Defence & Aerospace is proud to translate DRDO's cutting-edge technology into an operationally ready solution that strengthens our armed forces' ability to counter evolving drone threats."
He further emphasized the company's commitment to equipping India’s armed forces with state-of-the-art indigenous defence technologies. "By leveraging our advanced manufacturing capabilities, we are dedicated to ensuring that our armed forces have access to the most advanced systems to safeguard the nation's strategic interests," Rajvanshi added.
Dr. B K Das underscored the importance of this development, stating that the introduction of the system is a crucial step in bolstering India's defence preparedness against asymmetric threats. "This system integrates multiple counter-drone technologies into a highly mobile platform, ensuring rapid response and operational flexibility," he said.
Reaffirming DRDO’s commitment to strengthening national security, Dr. Das stated, "We remain dedicated to developing indigenous, next-generation solutions in collaboration with the Indian industry. We are confident that this system will play a pivotal role in securing key defence and civilian assets."
