Accused of ticket selling, overzealous aspirants, internal issues: AAP faces real threats now
text_fieldsNew Delhi: A video emerged on Monday showing Aa Aadmi Party workers roughing up a party MLA in his office over complaints in choosing candidates for Delhi MCD polls.
Matiala, Gulab Singh was seen manhandled by a man while several others, looking expressly angry, gathered about the seated lawmaker, as per a report by The Indian Express.
The man was seen trying to grab by the collar of the MLA while a woman was hitting him.
People around him were throwing things at him just as Gulab Singh took a flight from the room.
He was slapped and punched before he could escape, shows the one minute video doing round in social media.
The report said that the commotion began at the MLA's meeting where people questioned him over distribution of tickets to candidates.
AAP leadership has not yet responded to the incident and allegations of selling seats for payment.
The video was shared on Twitter by the BJP's Delhi unit claiming that the MLA was roughed up over allegations of selling "tickets".
The Anti-Corruption Branch last week arrested a relative of Akhilesh Pati Tripathi, MLA for Model Town, alongside a personal assistant and associates, on charges of collecting money for MCD candidature.
They were accused of demanding Rs 90 lakh from AAP member Gopal Khari to field his wife as a candidate, which didn't happen leading to the arrest of the accused over complaint.
The BJP on Monday released what it called a "sting video" showing AAP leaders pitching for Rs 80 lakh from a seat-aspirant person.
AAP tried to shy away claiming that the video proved AAP's tickets are not on sale.
As AAP appears to be maturing in politics since its entry as a novel political party, attracting voters, it is increasingly beset with many of the ills of the mainstream politics.
Its slogans of corruption free politics are at risk of thinning out in the internal fight and alleged selling of tickets.
