AAP's alleged "religious conversion" event; BJP charges anti-Hindu slogans raised

New Delhi: After a "religious conversion" event allegedly held by Aam Aadmi Party, BJP filed a complaint at Delhi Police alleging that anti-Hindu slogans were raised there, IANS reported.

BJP's Delhi President Adesh Gupta filed the complaint, naming Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Cabinet Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam for the conversion event and the raising of anti-Hindu slogans.

The complaint sought the Delhi Police to add sections 153A, 153B, 295A, 298, 505, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code in the FIR.

It is learnt that the event was held at Ambedkar Bhawan in Central Delhi.

Gupta said in his complaint, "They released the video of the programme and made it viral. The video was exasperating and mischievous in nature. These social media posts are created with the obvious motive of inciting violence and promoting hatred."

Gupta has alleged that during the anti-NRC protests, the same tactics were used to incite violence by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders.

He alleged that AAP leaders deployed similar tactics to incite violence during the anti-NRC protests.

According to the complaint, a 'sabha' (rally) was conducted at the Ambedkar Bhawan on October 6. AAP organised it, and its leaders administered oaths which demeaned several Hindu deities. Those who participated were asked not to follow Hinduism, citing that it is a bad religion, the complaint alleged.

It added, "Videos were made of such speech and were subsequently shared on various social media platforms to get maximum reach and propagation so that the religious sentiments of people of the Hindu religion may be attacked, and subsequently a state of riot and disturbance be created on a national level."

The Delhi Police informed us that they are examining the issue.
