Ahmedabad: Aam Aam Aadmi Party MLAs in Gujarat are reportedly in touch with the BJP as the saffron party is set to form government after landslide victory, NDTV reported.

AAP went to poll with great hopes of wresting power from the BJP riding on its success in Punjab and track record of governance in Delhi.

But some AAP MLAs are reportedly in touch with the BJP ahead of the latter forming its government in the state for the seventh consecutive term.

However, AAP MLA Bhupat Bhayani for Visavadar constituency in Junagadh district refuted the report about him switching sides, according to NDTV.

The party put up a show making inroads in the state while winning five seats, amid the BJP's landslide victory.

During the campaign, the AAP emerged replacing the Congress as the main challenger to the BJP.

The ten-year-old party left the opposition votes splintered in a way helping the BJP score a historic win.

The BJP won 156 out of the total 182 seats, reducing the Congress to 17 seats alongside beating the grand old party's 37-year-old record of 149 seats in thr1985 polls.

The BJP's best seat tally in the state was 127 in the 2002 polls.
