New Delhi: Though efforts were put to unite the opposition parties, but have not materialised, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national spokesperson Manoj Kumar Jha said on Saturday. His statement comes after Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi's statement on Friday that talks are on to unite parties against BJP and RSS, Asian News International Reported.

Backing Rahul Gandhi, RJD leader Sharad Yadav told ANI that there is a need for a common programme at the national level before opposition unity.

Jha said that the opposition parties have to list their agenda for the people for the next 200 years and convey it to the people. They have to clarify their vision for unemployment, inflation, and a better economy. An opposition unity will be possible only after that, he said.

On Friday, Rahul Gandhi visited veteran leader and former union minister Sharad Yadav. Rahul declared Yadav a political guru.

To the question of whether Rahul should be made Congress chief again, Sharad Yadav said, "Why not? If somebody runs Congress round the clock, it is Rahul Gandhi. I think he should be made the party president. Only then can something big be done."
