A prayer hall in Delhi vandalised on suspicion of forced conversion
text_fieldsNew Delhi: A group of residents in North Delhi’s Burari area barged into a make-shift prayer hall suspecting that the forced conversion was happening inside.
Delhi Police said residents started protesting outside the private hall run by a pastor in the area on December 11.
A group of 100-200 people allegedly broke into the place while a Sunday mass was underway.
Footage showed them removing chairs and benches while chanting “Jai Shree Ram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.
People inside the hall immediately made a PCR just as local residents went on vandalising, interrupting the prayers, The Indian Express reported.
Sagar Singh Kalsi, DCP (North) reportedly said that the place was not a church but a private room in Burari Baba Colony.
The officer also added that the protesters were removed and the place was vacated as nothing cognizable was found.
Police said no case was registered adding that the issue was resolved; however, a notice was issued to the man who posted the video on social media, according to the report.
