New Delhi: Officials informed on Wednesday that four children drowned in the Yamuna river at Khadda Colony, Jaitpur in southeast Delhi, around 3.30 pm, IANS reported.
Two fire engines were immediately despatched, and one of the children's bodies was recovered. The recovered one must be aged around 12-13. The recovery was made with the joint effort of boat club staff and Delhi Fire Services personnel around 5:35 in the evening.
Rescue operations are still going on, DCP southeast Esha Pandey told IANS. As no one had seen the remaining three boys, there are even doubts about whether they drowned or not.
"None had seen them, but their clothes are lying at the river bank, so there is a possibility that they too might have drowned," Pandey said. The DCP added that clear information would get only after the rescue operation ends.
