3 people could ride a bike in UP if we get elected: SP ally
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The head of Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh, Om Prakash Rajbhar, said on Wednesday that if his party is brought power, people would be allowed to ride bikes with three people on board, NDTV reported.
Om Prakash told news agency Asian News International that a train carries 300 people on 70 seats but gets no penalty challans. Then why three people riding a bike is penalised, he asked. If his government came to power, he offered that three people could freely ride a motorcycle. Further, he promised that if they couldn't implement the same, they would levy penalties on jeeps and trains, too, he added.
In the current polls, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party has allied with Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party. It had fielded three candidates in the state. The 403 seated Uttar Pradesh is heading to the polls in seven phases, and the first one is scheduled on Thursday. The last phase will be on March 7, and vote counting is scheduled for March 10.
In 2017, Om Prakash's party had allied with the BJP. It contested in 8 seats and won 4. Om Prakash was made a cabinet minister then, but later, he started accusing the Yogi Adithyanath government of neglect and sideling his party.
Om Prakash said during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls campaign that BJP leaders must be beaten with shoes. Consequently, just after the polls ended, he was dropped from the cabinet.
