New Delhi: When the Delhhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kailash Gahlot left AAP, former BJP MLA Anil Jha joined the Arvind Kejriwal party. Jha joined AAP on Sunday in the presence of its national convenor, Kejriwal. Jha reasoned for his move that BJP unfulfilled promise and there were controversies recently, India Today reported.

A two-time BJP MLA from the Kirari Assembly Constituency of North West Delhi, Jha also cited disillusionment with the saffron party’s leadership and policies as a reason to leave it.

Jha’s move is being viewed as a boost for AAP since the area he represented is considered a BJP stronghold.

Joining AAP, Jha praised Kejriwal, saying that if there was one person who worked for the Purvanchali community of Delhi, it was Kejriwal. The residents in the region lived with adequate infrastructure, including unauthorized water pipes and faulty sewer lines, but in the last 10 years under Kejriwal, drinking water has reached every household.

Kejriwal, the former chief minister of the union territory, welcomed Jha to the party, saying that the defector is considered one of the biggest leaders in the Purvanchali community in Delhi.

Kejriwal continued that people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar come to Delhi for education and employment, and the BJP and Congress ignored their needs. It was when he became the CM that his government initiated development works in the Purvanchali community to improve their living conditions.

Anil Jha aimed a kick at his former party shortly after joining AAP, saying that a few leaders in the BJP’s Delhi unit are like “spoilt sons” and the central team of BJP is like an “old father” who is unable to manage them, India Today reported.
