2 Noida men suffocate to death after leaving stove burning overnight
text_fieldsNoida: Two men were found dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida after sleeping in a poorly ventilated room filled with smoke from a burning stove overnight, according to India Today.
The deceased, identified as Upendra, 22, and Shivam, 23 ran a food cart selling chhole kulche and bhatura.
It is reported they left a pot of chhole (chickpeas) on the gas stove before they went to sleep.
Early in the morning, Neighbours noticed smoke billowing from their rented room.
They broke down the door only to find both men lying unconscious and transported them to the district hospital in Sector 39.
Doctors at the hospital pronounced them dead on arrival.
The unattended pot on the stove burned through the night charring the food and filling the room with smoke, according to the police.
An official reportedly said the preliminary investigation pointed to ‘suffocation caused by the accumulation of smoke and carbon monoxide in the unventilated room led to their deaths.’
The official added that ‘There were no external injuries on the bodies, and the exact cause will be confirmed after the post-mortem.’
