2 employees killed in fire at Amazon warehouse in Uttarakhand
text_fieldsHaldwani: Two employees lost their lives after a massive fire broke out at an Amazon warehouse in Haldwani city of Uttarakhand, police said on Saturday.
According to Haldwani Superintendent of Police (City) Manoj Katyal, the bodies of two employees were recovered from inside the e-commerce company's warehouse located opposite Sheetal Hotel on Rampur Road after firefighters brought the blaze under control.
The deceased were identified as Narendra Prasad, 35, a resident of Bagjala in Haldwani, and Amit Arya, 25, a resident of Rampur Road.
Katyal said police, fire service personnel and administrative officials rushed to the warehouse late on Friday night after receiving information about the fire.
The blaze spread rapidly through the facility, making firefighting operations challenging. Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames only after extensive efforts.
Following the operation, the bodies of the two employees were discovered inside the warehouse.
Police said the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident.
