2 doctors arrested for manipulating Pune Porsche teen's blood report
text_fieldsPune: The Pune Crime Branch arrested two doctors for allegedly manipulating the blood test report of the 17-year-old whose reckless driving of Porsche car killed two software engineers days ago here, NDTV reported.
Dr Ajay Tawade, who is head of the forensic lab at the state-run hospital in Pune, and Dr Hari Harnor of Sasoon Hospital have been detained alongside seizing their phones.
It is revealed citing police sources that Dr Tawade and the accused's father spoke over the phone after the accident.
Reports earlier said the teen had tested negative for alcohol however CCTV footage from one of the bars he visited showed him drinking with friends.
Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar earlier said the accused had parties in two bars and drove rashly without a number plate on narrow congested street, adding that he was fully in his senses that ‘he knew that people may die because of his actions.’
Two sample of the accused’s blood were tested at different times for accurate results, the police chief said.
As the first blood sample had no alcohol, but the second showed giving rise to suspicion of manipulation, leading to conduct a DNA test.
Subsequent DNA test revealed that the blood samples were not from the same person suggesting the teen’s blood sample may have been switched with that of another person for creating a clean report.
The teen reportedly belongs to a noted realtor’s family and his father and grandfather allegedly tried to influence the legal process to protect the accused.
Ashwini Kostha and Anish Awadhiya died on the spot when the Porsche hit the bike they were traveling.
The boy was granted bail within 15 hours of the accident on conditions that directed him to write a 300-word essay on road accidents, work with traffic cops for 15 days and get counselling for his drinking habit.
