Kochi: A 19-year-old sailor was found hanging onboard the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant in the early hours of Thursday, the Indian Navy said.
The sailor hails from Bihar. His name has not been revealed yet.
The body was found hanging by another sailor and preliminary indications are that the young sailor committed suicide.
"Prime facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. A statutory Board of Inquiry is being ordered," an official statement said.
The local police have registered a case of unnatural death. The Naval authorities have also started a probe.
