Mumbai: A 14-year-old boy from Maharashtra puts calculators to shame performing mental calculations in fraction of seconds.

Aaryan Shukla set six world records in one day making it into the Guinness World Record (GWR) list for the second time, Siasat reported.

Last year on an Italian TV show ‘Lo Show dei Record’ he set the record of the fastest to mentally add 50 five-digit numbers by working all numbers in just 25.19 seconds with one addition every 0.5 seconds.

Aaryan pulled off the title of a ‘human calculator’ again at a mental math competition held in Dubai this year, calculating in record time 100 four-digit numbers in 30.9 seconds.

In addition, he added 200 four-digit numbers in 1 minute 9.68 seconds, 50 five-digit numbers in 18.71 seconds, dividing a 20-digit number by a ten-digit number (set of ten) in 5 min 42 seconds, multiplying two five-digit numbers (set of ten) in 51.69 seconds and multiplying two eight-digit numbers (set of ten) in 2 min 35.41 seconds.

Aaryan told the Guinness World Records in an interview that he spends at least five or six hours every day to prepare for competitions, stressing the importance of practice.

Aaryan's other hobbies include travelling, reading and Yoga, saying: ‘Sahaja Yoga meditation helps me to keep calm and focused.’

Even at a young age, Aaryan bagged several accolades including the prestigious Mental Calculation World Cup in 2022 in Paderborn, Germany and was one of the founding board members of the Global Mental Calculators Association (GMCA).

His parents came to notice his talent when he started doing mental maths at age of six and ‘then slowly, gradually I started […] to solve tougher problems. Then I started to go into competitions and slowly I became world champion’.
