Bhilwara: The burnt remains of a girl were found in a brick kiln in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara on Wednesday, giving rise to suspicion about rape.

The 14-year-old girl had left home with her mother to graze goats when she allegedly wandered off and vanished, according to report.

The crime surfaced only this morning, causing intense political mudslinging in the state with Assembly polls are months away.

The teen did not return following which her family and villagers started an all-night frantic search for her.

Finally in the early hours of Thursday, they discovered her remains in a brick kiln at a field near her home.

The police recovered bones, a silver anklet and shoes in the smouldering remains.

Three men at the spot were caught and arrested them on suspicion of gang raping the girl.

Hundreds of villagers came to the spot protesting against the police for belatedly responding to their complaint.

BJP leaders showed up joining the protesters, giving rising to intense exchange between ruling and Opposition.

The BJP is looking forward to unseat the ruling Congress, led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, in the upcoming polls.

Multiple incidents of attack and assault against women have been reported in the state last month.

A girl was shot on July 14, splashed with acid before she was dumped into a well.

Following which another girl was allegedly gang gaped three days later on the university campus in Jodhpur.

Chief Minister Gehlot defended his governing by citing crime rates in states ruled by BJP.
