An 11-year-old boy was grievously injured after a stray bullet hit him in Pudukottai in Tamil Nadu. The bullet was fired during a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) training session at the CISF shooting range at Pasumalaipatt in Pudukottai.

The TN police are investigating the matter. Sivasubramanian, the Deputy Superintendent of Pasumalaipatti police, said that the boy was 2 km away at his grandparents' home when the bullet pierced his head.

He was rushed to Keeranur government hospital from where he was referred to Pudukottai medical college hospital. He was then shifted to Thanjavur medical college hospital. A team of doctors is presently attending to the boy, whose condition is stated to be extremely critical.

The locals have staged a 'road roko' agitation. They have demanded that the firing range of the CISF be shut down and a detailed investigation be undertaken. The reason why a boy 2 km away was hit must be identified and those responsible booked, they stressed.
