10-year-old boy found dead at Assam BJP MP’s house, suicide suspected

Guwahati: A class five student was found hanging at the house of a BJP MP in Assam Saturday evening, NDTV reported.
The 10-year-old boy along with his mother and elder sister had been living for several years at Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy's house.
The boy's family is from the Palong Ghat area of Cachar district.
Even as the locals called it a suicide, police registered a case of unnatural death.
The body was removed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for post mortem.
The boy’s mother is a house help at Rajdeep Roy's residence.
A few years ago, the mother brought her two children to Silchar hoping to give them better education.
Rajdeep Roy, who rushed to his house immediately after the incident, said, ‘They told me he hung himself’.
‘ The door of the room where the body was recovered from was closed from the inside, and when the police broke it open, the boy was found unconscious. We rushed him to a nearby hospital and the doctors tried to save him, but it was too late. He was declared dead by the doctors,’ Roy was quoted as saying.
Police sources citing family members said that the boy was angry at his mother for not buying him a mobile phone to play games.
