The Marakkuma Nenjam concert organised by AR Rahman has sparked controversy, with attendees expressing their grievances and making accusations against the renowned composer.

Some even called him a scamster.

In the midst of these claims, Yuvan Shankar Raja, music composer, and actor Karthi have come forward to defend Rahman.

Yuvan Shankar Raja took to Twitter to share a lengthy post in support of Rahman. He criticised the event's organiser for the shortcomings and expressed empathy for Rahman, stating, "As a fellow musician, I empathise and stand with AR Rahman, considering the unfortunate events, especially when the event was intended to give fans a memorable night. For all the right reasons."

Actor Karthi, whose family attended the concert, also voiced his support for Rahman. He mentioned that his family was present during the chaotic event and expressed his belief that Rahman would be deeply affected by the situation. Karthi urged the event organisers to take responsibility and called on fans to choose love over hate, emphasising Rahman's love for his audience.

"We have known and loved Rahman sir for more than 3 decades now… What happened during the concert was unfortunate. However, knowing sir he would be immensely affected by it. My family too was at the concert amid the chaos but I stayed with #ARRahman sir and I hope the event organisers take responsibility. I request all the fans to choose love over hate as Rahman sir always gave his love to all. #LoveAboveHate (sic)," he wrote.

Actress Khushbu Sundar, who attended the concert with her family, took to Twitter to support AR Rahman and blamed the organisers for the mismanagement.

Singer Sweta Mohan shared an account from an independent filmmaker who detailed the sexual harassment she experienced at the concert. The filmmaker, Sujatha, questioned whether Rahman deserved such fans who engaged in harassment.

Rahman's daughters, Raheema and Khatija, posted on Instagram, sharing content from the Instagram handle SZS Rahman. The post highlighted instances when Rahman organised concerts for social causes such as flood relief and COVID-19 relief.

On Monday, AR Rahman took responsibility for the mishaps that occurred during the concert and encouraged fans to contact the organisers for resolutions.

The controversy surrounding the Marakkuma Nenjam concert continues to generate discussion and differing perspectives within the industry and among fans.
