Wildest character I ever played, says Varun Dhawan on bringing werewolf to Indian screens

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan said his character in the upcoming comedy film Bhediya is the "wildest" he has ever played. He is playing a werewolf in the film and went through rigorous prep sessions to portray a man turning into a mythical wolf.

He said his dream as an actor is to entertain through a diverse array of roles and Bhediya is the most important addition to that endeavour. The trailer of the film proved to be an interesting glimpse into the story of a werewolf in Indian concepts. The man who turns into a wolf is a popular concept in Hollywood. The biggest challenge of Bhediya is not to look like a ripoff and the trailer suggests that the makers have managed to adapt the concept well for the Indian audience.

He added: "I agreed to do Bhediya after hearing just the one-line idea. I've never wanted to let go of the film ever since. And I was in constant touch with the producers. This is the wildest character I have played. While it may have been my first foray into the creature comedy genre, Amar had done Stree earlier and was very hands-on with the whole process."

Bhediya, like Stree, is created by Dinesh Vijan's horror comedy universe. The film stars Kriti Sanon, Deepak Dobriyal, and Abhishek Banerjee as well. It will hit the screens in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on November 25.
