Vignesh Shivan deletes X account amid Nayanthara documentary row
text_fieldsMumbai: Director Vignesh Shivan, the husband of superstar Nayanthara, has deactivated his X (formerly Twitter) account amid rising controversies surrounding the streaming documentary 'Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale'.
The move comes after Vignesh faced online backlash following his appearance at a roundtable discussion about pan-India films. Internet users pointed out that his last film, 'Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal', did not qualify as a pan-Indian project, and his upcoming movie, 'Love Insurance Kompany', also does not fit into that category. However, neither Vignesh nor his team has issued any statement regarding deactivating his X account.
While his X account is no longer active, Vignesh’s Instagram account remains unaffected, and he has continued to post there without referencing the deactivation of his X account.
Earlier, a separate controversy arose when Nayanthara criticized Tamil actor Dhanush for sending a legal notice demanding compensation for the unauthorized use of clips from 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan' in the documentary. Nayanthara addressed the matter in a long Instagram post, where she expressed disappointment over Dhanush’s attempt to block the release of her documentary. In her post, she emphasized her struggles as a self-made woman in the industry and pointed out that her success was due to her work ethic and the support of her audience and film fraternity.
Nayanthara also shared that after two years of negotiating with Dhanush for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and waiting for his approval for the documentary’s release, the team ultimately decided to re-edit the film and settle for the current version after he denied permission to use songs or footage from 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan'.
