MC Tod Fod, also known as Dharmesh Parmar, a member of the multilingual hip-hop group Swadesi, has died at age 24. The news was confirmed on Monday on Instagram by Azadi Records, Swadesi's label.

Moreover, the label posted a tribute video, taking a look at clips from some of the rapper's stage performances, including one performed in Gujarati and Hindi.

According to The Indian Express, the cause of his death could be a pre-existing heart condition.

"He was playing football with his Swadesi crew members at a place near Nashik when he collapsed, Right now, his friends and family are completely shell-shocked," said Uday Kapur, cofounder of Azadi Records.

For her 2019 film, Gully Boy, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar enlisted Tod Fod and other Indian hip-hop artists. For the Ranveer Singh-starring movie India 91, Tod Fod wrote a verse. "Gully Boy" was based on the lives of street or underground rappers.

As both Singh and his co-star Siddhant Chaturvedi mourned the passing of Tod Fod, Singh uploaded a photograph of the rapper to his Instagram story. As part of their conversation about music, Chaturvedi uploaded a screenshot of his conversation with Tod Fod.

"You have gone way too soon, I am so grateful to have crossed paths with you." Akhtar wrote alongside a photo of Tod Fod on her instagram account.

Tod Fod's last performance was also shared by Swadesi, a group formed in 2013.

"It was with this night that Tod Fod performed his last ever gig at Swadesi Mela, You had to be there to experience it, his thrill his love for playing live music. You are never forgotten, you will always live through with your music," the official handle wrote.

On Twitter, Dalit civil rights group, Equality Labs, shared condolences. In a tweet, the official handle said, "We offer love and strength to his family, members of the Swadesi Movement and everybody grieving the loss of this young artist, Rest in power, Tod Fod."

On Monday, Tod Fod's last rites were conducted at the chawl he lived in at the Bombay Development Directorate in Dadar.
