New Delhi: Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar on Monday took to Instagram to share an update on her upcoming film The Archies.

After a poster of the film was shared, Zoya in a video said that the story is set in the Anglo-Indian community of India. "It is in our magical fictional hill station in our country."

The Indian adaptation of iconic children's comics Archies comics seems to be staying true to its roots. Zoya revealed that the town is called Riverdale (similar to the original name in the books). She added that it is a pleasure and absolute honour to make the Indian adaptation of an iconic comic.

As the teaser earlier revealed, the movie is led by Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, and Khushi Kapoor. The film is expected to have a vintage vibe.

Zoya was interacting with Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater. She said: It's a huge part of my childhood. I've grown up reading it. It's very exciting to be able to take the characters and introduce them to a new generation, and at the same time, keep that nostalgia and the essence of the comic alive for people like me that grew up on it.

Speaking about the plot, Goldwater said the film is set in the 1960s. "There's a loss of friendship and love and conflict and community and the music. Music is such a big part of Archies heritage throughout the decades.

The youthful cast is one of the highlights of the Netflix film.
