The Prime Video original Superboys of Malegaon made a spectacular debut at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 14, receiving an overwhelming standing ovation from the audience.

Directed by Reema Kagti and written by Varun Grover, the comedy film stars Adarsh Gourav, Shashank Arora, and Vineet Kumar Singh, alongside Saqib Ayub, Manjiri Pupala, Anuj Singh Duhan, and Ali Abbas.

Produced by Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby Production, the project boasts Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar, Reema Kagti, and Ritesh Sidhwani as executive producers.

In photos shared by Prime Video on Instagram, the cast and crew dazzled on the TIFF red carpet.

The lead trio, dressed in stylish tuxedos, struck an elegant pose, while Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar were seen sharing a frame. A snapshot also featured Varun Grover with Nasir Shaikh, an amateur filmmaker from Malegaon, whose life inspired the film. Saqib Ayub and Manjiri Pupala added their playful personalities to the red carpet snaps, with the entire team coming together for a group photo to celebrate the occasion.

A video posted by Varun Grover captured the heartwarming moment when the crowd at TIFF gave the film a rousing standing ovation. The cheers brought tears to Nasir Shaikh’s eyes, who shared a heartfelt embrace with Zoya Akhtar, while Reema Kagti waved at the audience with a smile. “Absolute mad response to Superboys of Malegaon world premiere at TIFF. Congratulations to the entire team,” Grover wrote in his caption.

Inspired by real events, Superboys of Malegaon tells the story of a group of passionate amateur filmmakers from Malegaon, a small town in Maharashtra where the love for Bollywood runs deep.
